Late NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt’s No. 3 Chevrolet will be back on the racetrack this weekend, once again driven by an Earnhardt.
Richard Childress Racing announced that Earnhardt’s grandson, Jeffrey Earnhardt, will be driving his grandfather’s legendary car on April 23 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.
“It’s great to have an Earnhardt back in one of our cars,” said Richard Childress, the chairman and CEO of RCR. “We think Jeffrey is a talented young driver and I’m confident he will run well at Talladega.”
Jeffrey Earnhardt has 135 Xfinity Series starts, owning a best finish of third place with Joe Gibbs Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2019. He has competed in all three NASCAR national series.
