After the news broke Wednesday that the owner of the Washington Commanders is thinking about selling the team, reports surfaced Thursday that billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is open to bidding on it.
Claims that Bezos is interested in the team were first floated by People on Thursday afternoon, which reported a source saying Bezos is “looking into buying the Washington Commanders.” Soon after, the Washington Post reported that the Amazon executive chairman is toying with the idea of making a bid for the team, and it could include musician Jay-Z.
Notably, the Washington Post was purchased by Bezos in 2013 through Nash Holdings LLC, which he owns.
