The National Kidney Foundation has put out an urgent plea to all four-wheeldrivers in the Washington area to volunteer to transport patients to andfrom dialysis treatment this week. There are nearly 6,000 dialysis patients in and around the D.C. area, and some of them are unable to get to treatment due to the weather conditions and reduced Metro access. “Missing one appointment could make them very sick; missing a week could be fatal,” a foundation spokeswoman said in a news release. Drivers interested in volunteering can contact DaVita Dialysis at 615-320-4544 or FreseniusMedical Care at 703-655-9712.
