Former Obama adviser David Axelrod said he believed all the Democratic candidates did well in the third presidential debate except Julián Castro.
“The only person I had thought had a disappointing night was Julián Castro,” Axelrod said Thursday during post-debate analysis on CNN. “He overreached in a way … Essentially saying, ‘You forgotten what you said two minutes ago?’ It was such an overt kind of shot. Ageist sort of shot at Biden.”
“Remember, these are well liked people. Joe Biden is a well liked person in the Democratic Party,” he added.
Castro, 44, hit at Biden, 76, during the debate, arguing he had forgotten details about his healthcare plan.
“Are you forgetting already what you said just two minutes ago? I mean, I can’t believe that you said two minutes ago that they had to buy in, and now you’re saying they don’t have to buy — you’re forgetting that,” the former head of Housing and Urban Development said.
