President Trump touted “possible progress” being made in talks with North Korea about its nuclear weapons program.
Trump’s said Tuesday the talks “may be false hope” but his administration is willing to work with North Korea on denuclearization or “go hard” against the country if the U.S. doesn’t get what it wants.
“Possible progress being made in talks with North Korea. For the first time in many years, a serious effort is being made by all parties concerned,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “The World is watching and waiting! May be false hope, but the U.S. is ready to go hard in either direction!”

South Korea said early Tuesday that the North has agreed to impose a moratorium on tests of nuclear weapons and missiles during possible talks with the U.S.
South Korea’s presidential national security director said the North has agreed it would not need to keep its nuclear weapons if military threats against the country stop.
The White House has said its only goal is to denuclearize North Korea, not change its regime.
