WATCH: NYPD cops stun and swarm knife-wielding man who walks through precinct's front doors

New York City Police Department Chief Terence Monahan released video of an officer using a Taser on a man that walked into a police precinct carrying a long knife.

The clip has gained about 2,200 likes and 580 retweets since Monahan sent it out from his official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon. The video shows a man walking into the police station and presumably threatening those present.

The man, who Monhan said was “emotionally disturbed,” asked the cops to shoot him. One cop got behind the knife-wielding man and hit him with a shot from a Taser. The man dropped his knife and fell down while officers swarmed to keep him down.

“Cops face split second, life & death decisions every day. When an emotionally disturbed man holding a long knife walked into the @NYPD75Pct — and asked to be shot — these cops reacted quickly. Though prepared for the worst, they delivered a safe outcome for everyone. Well done!” Monahan tweeted.

The incident comes about a week after two videos showing people taunting and pouring water on cops in New York went viral, earning condemnations from law enforcement and state and federal officials, including President Trump.
