I’M BACK!

Just in case any of you wonderful people out there were wondering where I’ve been for the past week, let me reassure you that I was not kidnapped by angry operatives for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid or House Speaker Nancy Pelosi because they were fed up with hearing me rant about earmarks. Nor was I terminated by GOP regulars tired of hearing me going on and on about the need for political parties that actually do what they promise.

No, the truth is I just spent the past week, first, in Denver for a couple days of meetings with the powers-that-be in The Examiner media organization. They are making big decisions about the future of our operation and once in a while when they needed a little comic relief, they asked me a question. 🙂

Then it  was off to lovely Wichita, Kansas, for an extremely enjoyable hour with Charles Koch, CEO of Koch Industries, the world’s largest private corporation. I will be writing a profile of Mr. Koch for the newspaper shortly. He is a fascinating man with a remarkable company built on the same free market principles that have made America the world’s greatest and freest society. He just published a book that tells the story, called “The Science of Success.”

Then, after spending a blessed day with my sainted mother in Oklahoma City that was punctuated throughout with work on the first installment of the newspaper’s “Lawyers Gone Wild” series, I hopped on a United Airlines flight home. Quite a week. I am glad to be home and back in The Washington Examiner newsroom.

Now, the postings will resume … until morale improves in this joint!
