FDIC makes no comments on Va. nude golf incident

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has circled its wagons after a nude golf outing scandalized the nation’s bank guarantor.

“The FDIC is prohibited under this law from divulging information about the circumstances of the incident, the investigation and the disciplinary process,” FDIC spokesman Andrew Gray said in an e-mail statement. “These are not public officials, and each of these individuals has due process rights.”

Gray’s “no comment” came more than two months after the FDIC promised to take swift action against anyone involved with the May 22 revelry at Penderbrook Golf Course in Fairfax.

According to sources, two women who worked at the FDIC were given a large tip after they bared their breasts to a top official in the agency’s information technology section.

The women had volunteered to serve as “cart girls” at the event and served beer to the rest of the golfers, according to sources.

Although the outing wasn’t an official agency event, brochures for the golf day were posted around the FDIC’s offices, which forced the agency to conduct an internal review.
