Trump urges Palestinian Authority to make peace with Israel

President Trump on Friday encouraged Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to work with Israel to come to an agreement that would end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, rather than imposing a solution on the other party.

In a phone call Friday evening, Trump said the U.S. hopes to play a role in helping both parties reach a comprehensive agreement. He also shared his “personal belief” that peace is possible and that “the time has come to make a deal.”

Trump told Abbas an agreement would give Israelis and Palestinians peace of mind and reverberate positively through the region and world.

The commander-in-chief invited Abbas to a meeting at the White House in the future, though no date has been set.
