WATCH: Police officer present on Jan. 6 slams Kari Lake on MSNBC

Former D.C. Metropolitan police officer Michael Fanone shared his thoughts on Arizona’s gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.

Fanone, who was still on the job and at the scene on Jan. 6, 2021, reacted to a political ad attacking Lake on MSNBC on Tuesday. In the ad, the late U.S. Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick’s mother, Gladys Sicknick, is seen calling Lake “dangerous” because she “continues to spread the big lie.”

“I’ve gotten to know Mrs. Sicknick pretty well and I thought that was a powerful ad. She’s out there, I think, trying to do what all of us are trying to do here which is bring accountability for January 6th,” Fanone said. “And, you know, I also support the fact that Kari Lake is a piece of s***. So, I’m glad she did that ad.”

The other two on the panel, host Nicolle Wallace and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) smiled following Fanone’s outburst.

“No one is going to say that you haven’t put it all on the line in the bluntest terms possible,” Wallace responded.

Lake is the Republican candidate in the race for governor against Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs after former Cold Stone Creamery CEO Doug Ducey did not run for reelection. Ducey endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson during the GOP Primary election but has since campaigned for Lake after her win.

“Elevated discourse on MSNBC,” the Washington Examiner’s Bryon York tweeted in response to the clip online. “Former officer Fanone makes use of his new position as opinion leader.”

A recent poll shows that 49% of likely voters say they plan to support Lake, while 47% back Hobbs.
