Germantown-based Hughes Communications Inc., a broadband satellite network services provider, announced a 13 percent increase in revenues for a record $233 million for the period ending March 31. Operating income was also up 45 percent to $13 million, and net income was $4 million, compared with breaking even in the first quarter of 2006.

“Over 41,000 new subscribers were activated in the first quarter of 2007, resulting in the consumer/SMB subscriber base growing to 346,000. We booked orders of $277 million in the first quarter of 2007 for a strong 84 percent growth over the first quarter of 2006.”
