House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi praised Donald Trump on Sunday as “the gift that keeps on giving” to Democratic lawmakers and congressional candidates.
“I think we could, today, win everything,” Pelosi predicted during a radio interview on Sunday with John Catsimatidis.
The California Democrat claimed Trump’s candidacy could lead both chambers of Congress to return to Democratic control in the November election. Many Republicans have previously expressed concern about the bombastic real estate mogul negatively impacting down-ballot races.
“Bless his heart. Donald Trump, the gift that keeps on giving,” Pelosi said, adding that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee has “helped [Democrats] enormously.”
Pelosi also predicted that Trump’s Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton will run a “dignified” campaign against him over the next five months. She endorsed Clinton earlier this month on the day of the California primary.
“It will be marked by a vision of the future that’s backed up by great knowledge and a plan to get the job done,” she said.
