A new twist on a classic

New York Designer Peter Harrison has a new interpretation of Gerrit Rietveld’s famous 1934 Zig-Zag Chair — a seat made without legs. The Zig Zag Redux, Harrison’s first piece with a historical reference, has his signature aluminum joinery, with each joint made from a solid aluminum block. Seats are made of maple and finished with a bold red or black lacquer, making them perfect as a strong focal point in a room or for use as versatile dinner table seating. The chairs, at $2,400 each, are available through Harrison’s website, peterharrison.com. – Ellen Beck
