Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is helping Democrats fundraise ahead of the 2020 election.
McCabe will be the keynote speaker at a fundraising banquet for the Lancaster County Democratic Committee on Sept. 21, according to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s website.
The committee is teasing the event, which includes a book signing, as “an eye-opening message from Andrew McCabe.”
McCabe, who is scheduled to speak for 45 minutes and answer questions for another 15 minutes, said he plans to discuss his “one-on-one interactions” with President Trump and special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation.
“Lest anyone thinks this will be a gloomy take on things, Mr. McCabe says he is sure there are brighter days ahead and will talk about why he feels this way,” the committee wrote on its website.
Tickets range in price from $80 to $160. The pricier tickets include a photo with McCabe.
McCabe was fired by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions hours before he was set to retire in 2018 after the Justice Department inspector general alleged he violated the agency’s media policy and then misled investigators about his actions.
McCabe, now a CNN contributor, is suing the FBI and the Justice Department over his firing and accusing Trump of retaliating against government employees who “were not politically loyal to him.”
Trump has attacked McCabe since at least 2017 for his wife Jill’s political ties. Jill McCabe ran unsuccessfully for Virginia state Senate in 2015 and accepted nearly $700,000 in campaign funding from the Virginia Democratic Party. Trump claimed such actions proved McCabe was biased.
