Bernie Sanders Seattle campaign headquarters vandalized

Police are investigating after someone vandalized Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s Seattle presidential campaign headquarters.

Sanders’s Washington field director Shaun Scott said someone threw a large rock through a glass door Friday night. No one was hurt in the incident, and campaign employees swept up the glass and patched the door with plywood.

“This is not going to be something that deters us, that makes us feel less bold and pushing for the changes that we need to see in our democracy,” he told the Associated Press.

The Vermont senator was in Tacoma last week for a campaign event that drew thousands of supporters.

Another 2020 Democratic candidate also had their campaign officer vandalized in recent days. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s campaign blamed Sanders for fueling vitriol after his offices in Knoxville, Tennessee, were spray-painted with expletives and derogatory comments.

“This latest incident at our Knoxville campaign office is exactly what we’ve been warning about. We don’t know who is responsible for this vandalism, but we do know it echoes language from the Sanders campaign and its supporters. Over the past week, we’ve seen similar attacks against Mike Bloomberg 2020 offices in multiple states. Fortunately, no one has been injured. But this needs to end before someone gets hurt,” Bloomberg campaign manager Kevin Sheekey said in a statement.
