Could it snow in Washington in October?
The National Weather Service has put Montgomery County, Fairfax County, Prince William County under a “winter weather advisory,” predicting 1 inch of accumulated snow on grassy areas and 2 to 3 inches at higher elevations.
The weather service is predicting mostly rain until early afternoon, when the rain will turn to mostly snow. It also warned that the snow could take down some tree branches, leading to a few power outages, and make sidewalks and roads slippery.
Loudoun County’s chances of snow are even higher, with the weather service putting it and other counties west of it under a “winter storm warning,” predicting 1 to 3 inches of snow.
