NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are investigating eight suspicious fires that broke out in two Buffalo-area communities within a short period of time
Police in the Niagara County city of North Tonawanda say the first blaze was reported around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in large garbage container at a supermarket. Another of the fires was started in a pickup truck parked between two houses caught fire. The flames then spread to the homes.
Authorities say several other fires were reported over the next 90 minutes, including one in the neighboring city of Tonawanda. Most of them apparently started in vehicles parked outside homes.
One of the fires heavily damaged a three-story apartment.
No injuries have been reported.
