Rabid cat in NE Washington

A feral cat that bit a person in Northeast Washington has tested positive for rabies, according to the District of Columbia Department of Health.

The attack happened Wednesday in the 1700 block of Lyman Place NE. The person is undergoing the rabies shots.

The cat had gray patches with white markings. Anyone who has had contact with the cat should contact the Department of Health at (202) 535-1952. Authorities are particularly interested in anyone who might have fed the cat.
