ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Eight projects have been awarded $55 million for projects involving 20 CUNY campuses in economic development efforts.
According to the governor’s office, the projects have been selected by CUNY and Empire State Development through a competitive process.
Awards include $7.7 million for the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay for a new center and research vessel focused on climate change.
Another $9 million is for the Transportation Technology, Sustainable Fuel and Product Development in New York City examining automotive technology.
Funding of $15 million is for the Big Data Consortium for analytics and $10 million for the Center for Allied Healthcare Education and Workforce Development for a teaching clinic in northern Queens.
Others awards are for health care employment training, small business education, new media and advanced manufacturing.
