Trump will rally in Kansas ahead of Kris Kobach election

President Trump will travel to Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 6, to hold a rally in support of Republicans a month ahead of the midterm elections, Trump’s re-election campaign announced Thursday evening.

Trump is expected to stump for State Secretary Kris Kobach at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka. The trip marks Trump’s second visit to the state and first to its northeastern region since mid-2015.

“President Trump looks forward to celebrating the success of his America First agenda with patriots from my home state of Kansas. The President will also remind Kansas voters of the critical importance of supporting their Republican candidates in the midterm elections in November,” Michael Glassner, chief operating officer for Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., said in a statement.

Trump is expected to tout the work his administration has done to create a “booming economy” and rally voters to support the GOP when they head to the polls in six weeks.

Kobach is in a tight race against Democratic candidate for governor state Sen. Mary Kelly. A RealClearPolitics.com average of recent polling found the two were separated by less than one percentage point in three recent surveys. Earlier this summer, Kobach beat incumbent Gov. Jeff Colyer in the primary race.

Kobach worked with the Trump administration on a 2017 project to find voter fraud in the 2016 presidential election.

Republicans are fighting to lock down the Senate seat and as many House seats as possible in order to avoid an upset in the midterm elections in November.

The rally is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday, Oct. 6.
