PITTSBURGH (AP) — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center plans to help establish a 100-bed cancer hospital in Vilnius, Lithuania.
UPMC expects the deal to be signed Tuesday with GK Klinika Group, a private Lithuanian company that’s building the hospital. The deal will be formally announced in a visit by the Lithuanian prime minister, also Tuesday.

UPMC won’t have an ownership stake when the hospital opens in 2017, but will help plan the hospital and train its staff and management.
Lithuania is the 10th country in which UPMC’s Advisory Services unit has begun operating since it was created last year.
The consulting unit is also helping develop hospitals and other facilities in Canada, China, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Russia and Singapore.
