An Ohio voter cracked up some MSNBC hosts Monday evening after she explained she’s committed to supporting the conservative party, even if it’s being led by the “jackass” Donald Trump.
The moment occurred following the first presidential debate at Hofstra University in New York. MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff surveyed voters in Columbus, Ohio, after the big event and asked them whether debate performances by Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton had changed their minds about whom they plan to vote for in the fall.
The debate had no affect on any of the Ohio voters.
One registered Democrat, Anita, said she plans to vote for Trump in the fall.
Asked by Soboroff why she supports the GOP nominee, she said, quite simply, because she supports anyone but Clinton.
But the Ohio Democrat is none too thrilled about her choices in November.
“Trump was typical,” she said of the Republican candidate’s debate performance. “There were no surprises from him. Kind of disappointed that he went into the late of the debate campaign, you know, the same old slogans.”
She added later, “I am voting for the conservative party. And if this jackass just happens to be leading this mule train, then so be it.”
Soboroff and his colleagues, Brian Williams and Rachel Maddow, were left laughing at the new phrase that they just learned.
