Former Rep. Ron Paul said Facebook suspended him from managing his account, citing a violation of its community standards.
“With no explanation other than ‘repeatedly going against our community standards,’ @Facebook has blocked me from managing my page. Never have we received notice of violating community standards in the past and nowhere is the offending post identified,” Ron Paul tweeted Monday.

“The only thing we posted to Facebook today was my weekly ‘Texas Straight Talk’ column, which I have published every week since 1976,” he continued.
An executive for the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Paul “has been locked out of managing his Facebook Page for an unspecified ‘violation.’”
“They claim the lockout is temporary, but have provided no additional information as to the length of the suspension or any remedy,” Executive Director Daniel McAdams said.
Facebook spokesman Daniel Roberts told the Washington Examiner later Monday, “While there were never any restrictions on Ron Paul’s page, we restricted one admin’s ability to post by mistake. We have corrected the error.”
The last message on Paul’s Facebook account was posted Monday morning, along with links to the Ron Paul Institute with his latest column, titled “The ‘War On Terror’ Comes Home.” The column concerned tech censorship and President Trump’s being banned permanently by Twitter and banned indefinitely by Facebook last week.
“Last week’s massive social media purges — starting with President Trump’s permanent ban from Twitter and other outlets — was shocking and chilling, particularly to those of us who value free expression and the free exchange of ideas. The justifications given for the silencing of wide swaths of public opinion made no sense and the process was anything but transparent. Nowhere in President Trump’s two ‘offending’ Tweets, for example, was a call for violence expressed explicitly or implicitly. It was a classic example of sentence first, verdict later,” he wrote.
The suspension comes after Paul said at the end of December that YouTube removed an episode of the Ron Paul Liberty Report for “misinformation.”
“Very disturbing news: YouTube has pulled an episode of the Ron Paul Liberty Report and issued a ‘warning’ that any more violations will result in our not being able to put up more programs,” Paul said at the time. “The episode was a news report on a Trump rally — they said it is ‘medical misinformation.’”
