Caps 2, Thrashers 0
So, Alex Ovechkin is on pace for about 88 goals as of now. That’s absurd. He already has two in the first period as the Caps are up early on Atlanta. Ovechkin leads the NHL with 13 goals total in just 11 1/3 games. He has scored twice in six different games. The first goal tonight came on the power-play and was set up by a Brooks Laich faceoff win back to defenseman Mike Green, who found Ovechkin for the one-timer. The puck looked like it deflected off Thrashers defenseman Ron Hainsey. The second goal was a breakaway off a tremndous pass up ice from Nick Backstrom. Might as well have been a penalty shot. From the Caps crack PR staff: Ovechkin has 232 career goals – 116 of those at home and the other 116 on the road. The man is nothing if not consistent.
