No one knows better than Ohio’s governor the importance of soothing the bad feelings between supporters of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. His state was the scene of one of the season’s ugliest primaries, replete with personal attacks and name-calling.

He’s also watched John McCain creep up on Obama in Ohio polls this summer. In his remarks Tuesday, Strickland made a plea for unity on behalf of the “hard working” people of his state.
