Arlington, Commonwealth approve $1.87 million for transportation upgrades

The Arlington County Board voted Saturday morning to accept $935,000 in state revenue sharing funds and to pay an additional $935,000 in local funds for a total of $1.87 million for transportation upgrades in the county.

The money will fund a makeover for Old Dominion Drive, including new curbs, sidewalks, bus stops and traffic signals. It will also pay for a trail to be constructed alongside Washington Boulevard and for improvements to sidewalks and crossings at two other locations in the county, Five Points Intersection and Kirkwood Road.
