A Baltimore County van service used to help transport elderly citizens to medical appointments is desperately trying to find the vandals who seriously damaged five county vehicles Friday.

“This is a community asset and that?s what they should be treated as,” said Arnold Eppel, director of the Maryland Department of Aging.

The service, dubbed CountyRide, consists of 24 vehicles. They are “parked and kept in a locked area” in Dundalk?s Chesterwood garage, Eppel said.

Suspects somehow got inside the facility, stole the keys and proceeded to ruin the trucks, he said.

“Two [of the vehicles] were used as bumper cars,” he said.

No motive is known.

Vandals disabled five vehicles, and three other vans are out of service due to rain, Eppel said.

Anyone with information should contact the Baltimore County North Point Police Precinct at 410-887-4320.
