President Joe Biden laughed about frequent trips to his home state of Delaware during a Thursday press conference in Ohio.
“Every time I get a chance, I go home to Delaware. You think I’m joking. I’m not,” he told listeners while laughing.
The president made the remark during a speech in Ohio in which he announced that $1 billion would be set aside for restoring the Great Lakes in his infrastructure bill.

“It’s going to allow the most significant restoration of the Great Lakes in the history of the Great Lakes,” he said.
The Washington Examiner reported in January that Biden spent 28% of his first year in office in Delaware. According to a report, the president spent 26 of 52 weekends in the state. Most of Biden’s trips were on weekends.
He only spent 10 weekends at the White House.
The president has referred to the White House as a “gilded cage in terms of being able to walk outside and do things.”
The administration pledged to improve transparency regarding comings and goings and meetings. However, it will not extend this transparency to the president’s frequent Delaware trips, according to press secretary Jen Psaki.

“I can confirm we are not going to be providing information about the comings and goings of the president’s grandchildren or people visiting him in Delaware,” she said last summer.
