On Sunday the administration told us “the system worked.” On Monday, the president said it merely failed to prevent an “isolated extremist.” By Tuesday, though, the president acknowledged a “systemic failure” and two administration officials told CNN that this was a conspiracy so vast we were looking for bombing targets in Yemen to retaliate. That’s quite a reversal.
