Student assaulted inside dorm at state college

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a suspect is in custody following an assault inside a dormitory that left a New York state college student hospitalized.

The Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester (http://on.rocne.ws/1Bz05dQ ) reports that the suspect turned himself in Tuesday afternoon at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. No other details were immediately available.

Earlier Tuesday, officials at The College at Brockport said freshman David Medina of Brighton was attacked around 9 a.m. in McLean Hall by a man who was last seen leaving the campus. Officials say Medina is in stable condition at Strong Memorial.

Details of the assault haven’t been released.

Medina is a member of the college’s men’s soccer team.
