Tuesday is voter registration deadline day for 12 states and the District of Columbia, and dozens of others have deadlines coming up.
Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C. all have an Oct. 11 deadline. Florida’s deadline was today, but it was extended by a federal court until Wednesday following Hurricane Matthew.
In Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, prospective voters must register in person or via mail. The other states allow online voter registration.
Registering in person at the D.C. Board of Elections can be done as late as Election Day, Nov. 8.

According to the Bipartisan Policy Center, just 57.5 percent of all eligible voters made cast a ballot in the 2012 election.
