White House Director of Legislative Affairs Marc Short said there has been no talk in the West Wing about President Trump possibly firing special counsel Robert Mueller.
In an interview Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Short said the White House is ready for Mueller’s investigation to conclude quickly but that there is no plan to terminate it.
“No, there’s no conversation about that whatsoever in the White House,” he said.
He added the administration has continued to cooperate in “every single possible way” with Mueller’s probe and that he believes the country is “ready to turn the page.”
Mueller is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, including allegations the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.
Democrats in Congress have publicly worried Trump was contemplating firing Mueller before he completed his probe.
