Gas prices expected to be stable

In the absence of any damaging economic news, gas prices should remain stable over the next couple of weeks to the end of the year, Towson-based AAA Mid-Atlantic reported.

“The relative stability of recent prices for both oil and gasoline ? and the continued absence of any dramatic news affecting oil or gasoline supplies ? is an indicator the cost of fuel should remain fairly stable the last few weeks of the year,” said Ragina Averella, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Gas prices took a dramatic fall, dropping 96 cents from late August to mid-October, but they started to rise around Thanksgiving and have gradually increased by about one cent per gallon per day since then.

The averageprice for a gallon of self-serve regular gas in Maryland was $2.30 per gallon Tuesday, about the same price as Monday?s average in Maryland, according to AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
