WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A mistrial has been declared in the second of two murder counts against a New York man who was convicted last week of stabbing his girlfriend to death.

The Westchester County district attorney said jurors could not reach a verdict against Lucius Crawford in the 1993 knifing of Laronda Shealy in Yonkers. A spokesman said Crawford could be retried.

The Shealy killing had been a cold case until last year, when a lead prompted detectives to look for Crawford. When they went to his Mount Vernon apartment, they found his girlfriend, Tonya Simmons, dead in his bed.

The 61-year-old Crawford was convicted May 29 in the Simmons killing. He’s already spent about 30 years in prison for non-fatal knife attacks on women and still faces a Bronx murder trial.
