GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association and Special Olympics New York are concluding their inaugural season of Unified Sports with an event featuring teams from eastern New York.

Several competitions are planned at the Glens Falls Civic Center for Saturday, the final day of the season. They include six basketball games, a skills competition and a polar plunge.

Following each game, awards will be presented to each team member and coach for their participation in the program.

Unified Sports is the first partnership of any kind between the two organizations. It’s brought together students with and without intellectual disabilities for the opportunity to compete on one team.

Both groups are working to expand the program to western New York.
