NEW YORK (AP) — A judge linked to corruption allegations against a former New York City prosecutor has agreed to resign.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct announced on Wednesday that Supreme Court Justice Barry Kamins is stepping down.

The resignation stems from allegations that the judge created a conflict of interest in email exchanges with former Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes. Authorities say the two discussed strategy for the prosecutor’s re-election campaign.

The emails surfaced during an investigation into allegations that Hynes funneled forfeiture money from drug and other criminal investigations into the failed campaign.

Hynes has denied any wrongdoing.
