WHAT: During a Twitter town hall meeting, Reid said of President Obama’s latest jobs proposal that he intended “to have the Republicans belly up to the bar to turn down this plan which would create hundreds of thousands of jobs.” WHY IT’S DIM: Not only did Obama’s last stimulus plan fail to create jobs at such a rate, but Reid’s comments reinforce the idea that the latest plan is designed primarily to put Republicans in an awkward position.
CURE: Drop the sanctimonious election posturing and propose something that might actually create new jobs.
