ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New outdoor projects completed by the Department of Environmental Conservation across New York provide enhanced access for fishing, hunting, kayaking, and wildlife observation.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the projects announced over the weekend are part of an effort to expand recreational opportunities for sportsmen and sportswoman and boost tourism.
Improved fishing access and car-top boat launching were included in a $170,000 project at Goodyear Lake in Otsego County.
In a $60,000 project, six new fishing access sites and a waterfowl hunting blind were constructed on streams in Broome, Cortland, Cayuga, Onondaga and Tioga counties.
The DEC has completed an accessible dock at Cayuta Lake in Schuyler County for $27,000.
A fishing access site was constructed on the Oswegatchie River in St. Lawrence County for $5,000.
