A 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Indonesia‘s Sulawesi island killed at least seven people, injured hundreds, and destroyed many buildings on Friday.
Thousands fled their homes to seek safety just after the quake hit the island around 1 a.m. local time. At least 60 homes were damaged, according to a report by Reuters, which cited the country’s disaster mitigation agency.
Initial information from the agency showed that four people died and 637 were injured in Majene, while three other deaths and 24 more injuries were found in the neighboring area of Mamuju.
One video circulating around social media showed a girl crying out for help as she is trapped under the rubble of buildings.

The agency said a series of earthquakes in the past 24 hours prompted at least three landslides and the widespread loss of electricity.
The quake was felt strongly for around seven seconds but didn’t trigger a tsunami warning.
