President Trump scored a 40 percent approval rating in mid-April, the highest level of support he has seen in the Washington Post and ABC News poll since his first 100 days in office one year ago.
Forty percent of U.S. adults are happy with Trump’s performance, and that number is even higher, 44 percent, among registered voters, according to the April 8-11 survey.

Trump’s disapproval rate is 54 percent among registered voters and 56 percent among all adults.
The Republican leader’s approval rating among adults has fluctuated from 36 percent to 39 percent over the past year. On April 20, 2017, 42 percent of people approved of his job since taking office three months earlier.
The survey also concluded the public is at its highest level of approval for his approach to the economy: 46 percent.
Trump’s boost in approval comes as the same poll found the Democratic Party’s lead over Republicans in a generic congressional election has largely faded since the beginning of the year.
The phone survey was conducted among 1,002 U.S. adults. It had a 3.5 percentage point margin of error among adults and 4 percentage point difference among registered voters.
