The child was sent to a hospital for precautionary measures upon rescue but was in good condition, according to officials. A reporter from KNTV captured footage of Brandon, who appeared awake and healthy.

Police did not disclose how the infant was found, but local witnesses said they reported a van similar to one posted about by police, according to KTVU. A witness called 911 about the vehicle after spotting a baby carrier. It is unclear if Cuellar was in the vehicle at the time.

Brandon was being cared for by his grandmother while his mother was at work when the kidnapping occurred on Monday. The boy’s father is in prison. The grandmother had returned home with Brandon and placed him upstairs while she was unloading groceries. The child was alone for only a few minutes, according to police. The man entered the house and left with the child in a carrier. The grandmother did not spot the man enter or exit the home.
