Kaine: Clinton is ‘very, very high energy’

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine said Tuesday he is not worried about Hillary Clinton’s health, and maintained in an interview that her energy and stamina levels continue to impress.

“I’m not concerned,” he said in an interview with an Ohio CBS News affiliate, WTOL-11. “She is very, very high energy, and high stamina.”

“She just has enormous stamina, energy and work ethic.”

Hillary Clinton was recorded last weekend collapsing outside of a Sept. 11 memorial service in New York City. Her knees buckled and her aides had to lift her to help her into a van. Sunday’s fainting episode has increased interest in allegations the Democratic nominee has serious health concerns.

The Clinton campaign said at first she merely “overheated” at the event Sunday, but after the Democratic nominee disappeared for a full 90 minutes, her campaign revealed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia several days earlier. Clinton responded Monday to questions about her health by posting a series of notes to social media saying she felt much better.

On Tuesday, the Clinton campaign announced she would return to the campaign trail on Thursday. She is scheduled to appear in Greensboro, N.C., but former President Bill Clinton stood in for the Democratic nominee at various campaign events and fundraisers.

Kaine conceded Sunday’s fainting episode was “unfortunate,” but added he has no worries about Clinton’s health or her ability to continue campaigning.

“I have no questions about her health, her stamina, her energy,” he said. “I don’t think [what happened Sunday] affects the campaign.”

The vice presidential candidate promised that both he and the Democratic nominee would release additional medical information in the coming weeks.
