A retired Marine Corps general fired back at Donald Trump for calling him a failure.
“He has no credibility to criticize me or my record or anything I have done,” said Retired Gen. John Allen on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “I don’t have to justify myself to him.”
Allen, who was brought out of retirement to lead the U.S. response to the Islamic State, spoke at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week criticizing the GOP nominee’s immigration and other policies. Earlier on “This Week,” Trump said that Allen was a failed general who wasn’t able to defeat the Islamic State.
Allen shot back that if Trump had “spent a minute in the deserts of Afghanistan or deserts of Iraq, I would listen to what he has to say.”
He also took on Trump’s comments that the military can’t “win anymore,” calling it a direct insult to soldiers.
