First lady Michelle Obama is set to hit the campaign trail in support of former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Sen. Tim Kaine next week, marking her first appearance on the stump for the Democratic ticket.
According to the Clinton campaign, Obama will appear at a rally in Northern Virginia on Friday, Sept. 16. No other details were immediately available.
Michelle Obama previously praised Clinton at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in late July. During her speech, the first lady panned Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for his calls to “make America great again,” while praising Clinton for her work at the State Department.
Obama is the latest in a string of top Democratic surrogates who will go out to support Clinton’s campaign in the coming weeks. Former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are all set to hit the stump in the coming weeks for the former first lady, while Vice President Biden appeared alongside Kaine in Pittsburgh on Monday.
Additionally, President Obama has already stumped for Clinton and is set to campaign with her next Tuesday in Philadelphia.
