NEW YORK (AP) — Con Edison says an incident involving a transformer in midtown-Manhattan caused no injuries or outages.
Utility crews and the FDNY responded after receiving a call about a smoke and fire condition at 45th Street and Sixth Avenue at 9:24 a.m. Friday.
A Con Edison spokeswoman says a high voltage condition in an underground feeder caused the transformer to fail.
She says a light smoke condition was reported in the area.
But she says the underground damage was not as heavy as initially reported.
