A fire raged in a Montgomery County apartment building Friday night, rendering at least 12 apartments uninhabitable.

County firefighters arrived at the garden apartments on the 14200 block of Weeping Willow Drive in Aspen Hill around 6 p.m., where they found “heavy fire” engulfing the terrace of the building.

Spokesman Scott Graham said firefighters launched a “quick attack” to douse the fire. No one needed rescue, and there were no injuries, he said.

Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and amount of damage. Graham said at least 12 apartments were either ravaged by fire or would have to have their utilities cut off while firefighters investigate.
