RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The N.C. Museum of History is holding its 12th annual celebration honoring the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
The African-American Cultural Celebration on Saturday includes more than 75 presenters, some of whom will focus on the proclamation. It opens with songs from a female a capella group, the Winston-Salem State University Burke Singers.
This statewide start to Black History Month in February is one of the museum’s largest yearly events.
