‘Industry standards’: Ticketmaster defends $5K Springsteen tickets after backlash

Ticketmaster defended its ticket pricing for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concerts, calling it “consistent with industry standards.”

The site also claimed that “platinum” tickets that sell for nearly $5,000 in some cases are only 11.2% of overall ticket sales.

In a statement obtained by Variety, it explained that 88.2% of tickets were thus sold at much less expensive, fixed prices.

According to Ticketmaster, more than half of its tickets sell for below $200 face value, while just 1.3% have sold for higher than $1,000.

“Prices and formats are consistent with industry standards for top performers,” the site further explained.

This response comes after fans noticed the expensive tickets last week and began discussing them online.

“$1125 for general admission tix Albany ??? F*** off !” one user tweeted.

“Nothing says ‘working class ethic’ like $5000 concert tickets. Thanks for repping the little guy, Bruce Springsteen. #Bruuuuuce,” another chimed in.
