Chick-fil-A will offer $19 million in scholarships to its team members, it announced Wednesday.
There are 7,492 Chick-fil-A employees in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada who will receive scholarships from the fast food chain throughout 2021, the company said in a press release.

Twelve Chick-fil-A employees thought they were participating in a virtual retreat March 17 when the company’s chairman and CEO Dan Cathy announced that they would each be receiving a $25,000 scholarship, with 7,480 of the company’s employees each receiving a $2,500 scholarship.
The company was able to provide 400 more scholarships due to the sale of its Chick-fil-A Bottled Sauce in retail stores, it said. All of the royalties from those bottles go toward the chicken chain’s scholarship program.
“Since 1970, our scholarship programs have been instrumental in our investment in the growth and success of restaurant Team Members and their professional and personal development,” Cathy said in the statement. “This year’s inspiring scholarship recipients possess strong leadership skills, demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, and continue to make a positive impact on their communities.”
