NEW YORK (AP) — The Coast Guard says it’s suspending its search for a boater missing in the Long Island Sound.

The agency says Thursday crews looked for Scott Donsavage for more than 24 hours after he went missing around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The 43-year old was last seen by his wife departing from a boat launch in Mamaroneck.

His 15-foot vessel was found ashore in gear with no one aboard.

The Coast Guard says it brought in helicopters from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Atlantic City, New Jersey to help in the search.

The agency says it covered more than 276 square miles, roughly eight times the size of Manhattan.
